This weekend we will have a little visitor in our home. Our friends are working at the National Chuckwagon races so, I’ll be keeping their youngest. He’s 7 months old, & this will be his first time away from his mommy overnight. His Momma brought his things over last night. I made room for his little bed in my room.
He will be here by 5 this evening, & they’ll pick him up sometime Sunday afternoon. I’ll be back at some point with updates. Oh, did I mention that our 18th wedding anniversary is tomorrow?! This will definitely be an adventure.
I was infant teacher a few years ago at a daycare. I was assistant director & Itty Bitty teacher. I took care of 6 infants alone. Surely that means that “LaLa” (what the daycare kids called me) has this. Right? 😜
Stay tuned. First test is tonight: Boy Scouts meeting with a 7month old visitor. Haha!

Do you have a favorite childhood food memory? You know, the kind of memories from your Momma or Granny’s kitchen where you can almost taste it?! I have a few that take me back.
My sweet, little Granny use to make the best cat head biscuits & chocolate gravy. My Momma always made salmon stew (potato soup with salmon) & chocolate no bake cookies. Yummy!
Today, I made chocolate no bakes. They are delicious. I’ve eaten 3 already. 😉
I hope you all have some special food memories too. The kind that make your mouth water & your eyes close in thought.
I hope all of you are safe & sound. Please, join me in prayer for Texas & all the flood victims. God bless.

Hey, Everyone! I hope y’all are having a great Monday. We just began our third week of school. My little guy fell asleep on the way to school this morning. With the light rain coming down, I can’t say that I blame him.
Cutie in his cap to keep his hair dry.
A nearby farmer brought me a calf last week. Her momma had died a few days before, & the other cows didn’t like her stealing milk. I named her Moon. She’s doing well so far. Hopefully, she will gain weight quickly & be ok.
Moon after dumping her water to get to the bottle. Lol
I had a silkie hen get caught in a hay string, & hurt her foot a few months back. I rescued her & doctored her leg. I’m assuming it had damaged her foot in some way though. At first, her foot just peeled. Then, she started limping. She ended up losing her toes. 😢 It’s never seemed to bother her. She’s out every day freeranging & running (I should say “hopping” to me for treats). I named her Hop-A-long Cassidy. She reminds me of a peg-legged pirate. She’s fast too! I’m hoping she will be fine & live a long happy life.
I better get up & get some stuff accomplished today before hubby fires me. 😉
I hope you have a great week.

Well, here we go….week two of school has begun. The boys are liking school except for the homework. Both boys have complained about that part. Lol. Honestly, I’m anti-homework too, as I’ve mentioned before. 😉 I’m careful not to tell them that of course. Not sense in making things worse with fueling the fire.
We had a rodeo this weekend out of town that we had to work. We had fun, even if it was small. Unfortunately, hubby is sick again. He is wheezing & coughing horribly. We went back to the dr. He’s being treated for bronchitis, AGAIN. Praying the meds work quickly. I keep thinking he’s going to pass out, or throw up from coughing so hard. Poor guy can barely sleep at night. He’s up & down. I wake up to him coughing or sitting up asleep. I feel so bad for him. It’s hard seeing him struggling to breathe.
Today, is the eclipse day! It’s getting pretty dark outside. My boys’ school has NASA approved glasses for all the students. I’m sure they are outside right now enjoying the show. Personally, I’m ready to scroll through social media without seeing everything eclipse warnings. 😜
I hope all of you are having a great day. Take care today. Protect those eyes!

Good morning, Friends! We woke up this morning to heavy rain. Yippee! (Yes, that was dripping with sarcasm.) So, I dropped my boys off at the High School & middle school. Next, I went to get diesel in my truck. Of course, the diesel pumps are the only ones that you get water sprayed in your face. Lol. I tried to hide beside the gas pump but, the automatic fill button kept clicking off. So….back to the water spraying at me. At least, it was only a fine mist that the wind was throwing in my face. Thankful to have some of the rain off my head by the gas pump roof top.
Apparently, I miscounted the amount of Gatorade & dr peppers my husband & oldest would require for their lunches. (Or someone was drinking them in the evening. The verdict is still out on that idea.) 🤷♀️ Off to the Dollar Store I go for drinks & bread. Of course, all the close parking spots are taken, it’s still pouring I might add. The next parking spots I’d normally choose…. had a semi blocking all 8 or so spots. He couldn’t park off to the side out of the way I guess. 😜 That’s ok, to the back 40 I go. Around the side by the dumpster. 😂 I park & decide the rain has let up. I leave my umbrella, & take off down the sidewalk. Two rushing rain gutters on the sidewalk later & rain that’s decided to pick back up…..I’m a drowned rat walking into that place. Lol.
That’s ok. God is good. I am blessed. The rain has slowed so, I may get to feed my animals without requiring Noah’s Ark. 👩🌾☔️
Happy Thursday y’all!

Hey! I’m actually back to my blog two days in a row! It’s a miracle. Lol. I hope you all had a great Tuesday. It was nasty & rainy here until around lunch time. Thankfully, it turned out to be a beautiful (though humid) day.
Today, school went well again for both boys. Thank you, Jesus! 🙌🏼 My oldest seems happy to be back with friends, even though he isn’t a fan of “school”. My youngest is absolutely exhausted, & a bit on the cranky side this evening. Poor baby wanted to go to bed at 7:30, before he even got into the tub or studied his spelling words.
On this 2nd day of school, both boys had homework. *deep sigh*. We have an amazing school but, I completely disagree with homework in all honesty. These babies get up before daylight in most cases, travel to school (30 minutes one way for my boys), study all day around 8 hours, travel home, eat a snack, work on homework, take a bath, & go to bed. Bless them, Jesus! Ain’t nobody got time for 1-3 hours of homework. Ok…..I’m good, I’m getting off my soap box now. 🙄 As I said, we have a wonderful school & are super blessed. I just want my kids to enjoy life, & BE KIDS while they can. 😉 Shall we all sing the country song: 🎼Let them Be Little….🎼
On to other things, my garden is still hanging in there. Those stinking squash bugs are evil creatures. Spawn of Satan, I’m convinced. 👩🌾 Cucumbers are piled up awaiting me to make more pickles. Carrots are growing well too. And….drum roll…..I have a fairly big watermelon! We’ve never had luck with them so, I’m excited. Lol. It’s the largest one I’ve ever grown. (Eeekkkks! Happy dance!) Probably no big deal to most of you but, I’m counting my blessings. God is good & faithful. 🙏🏼
I better jump off here & get some rest. I hope you all have a blessed night.
