Drowned Rat

Good morning, Friends! We woke up this morning to heavy rain. Yippee! (Yes, that was dripping with sarcasm.) So, I dropped my boys off at the High School & middle school.  Next, I went to get diesel in my truck. Of course, the diesel pumps are the only ones that you get water sprayed in your face. Lol. I tried to hide beside the gas pump but, the automatic fill button kept clicking off. So….back to the water spraying at me. At least, it was only a fine mist that the wind was throwing in my face. Thankful to have some of the rain off my head by the gas pump roof top.

Apparently, I miscounted the amount of Gatorade & dr peppers my husband & oldest would require for their lunches. (Or someone was drinking them in the evening. The verdict is still out on that idea.) πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Off to the Dollar Store I go for drinks & bread. Of course, all the close parking spots are taken, it’s still pouring I might add. The next parking spots I’d normally choose…. had a semi blocking all 8 or so spots. He couldn’t park off to the side out of the way I guess. 😜 That’s ok, to the back 40 I go. Around the side by the dumpster. πŸ˜‚ I park & decide the rain has let up. I leave my umbrella, & take off down the sidewalk. Two rushing rain gutters on the sidewalk later & rain that’s decided to pick back up…..I’m a drowned rat walking into that place. Lol.

That’s ok. God is good. I am blessed. The rain has slowed so, I may get to feed my animals without requiring Noah’s Ark. πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎβ˜”οΈ

Happy Thursday y’all!

Dreaded Homework & Garden SurpriseΒ

Hey! I’m actually back to my blog two days in a row! It’s a miracle. Lol. I hope you all had a great Tuesday. It was nasty & rainy here until around lunch time. Thankfully, it turned out to be a beautiful (though humid) day.

Today, school went well again for both boys. Thank you, Jesus! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ My oldest seems happy to be back with friends, even though he isn’t a fan of “school”. My youngest is absolutely exhausted, & a bit on the cranky side this evening. Poor baby wanted to go to bed at 7:30, before he even got into the tub or studied his spelling words.

On this 2nd day of school,  both boys had homework. *deep sigh*. We have an amazing school but, I completely disagree with homework in all honesty. These babies get up before daylight in most cases, travel to school (30 minutes one way for my boys), study all day around 8 hours, travel home, eat a snack, work on homework, take a bath, & go to bed. Bless them, Jesus! Ain’t nobody got time for 1-3 hours of homework. Ok…..I’m good, I’m getting off my soap box now. πŸ™„ As I said, we have a wonderful school & are super blessed. I just want my kids to enjoy life, & BE KIDS while they can. πŸ˜‰ Shall we all sing the country song: 🎼Let them Be Little….🎼

On to other things, my garden is still hanging in there. Those stinking squash bugs are evil creatures. Spawn of Satan, I’m convinced. πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎ Cucumbers are piled up awaiting me to make more pickles. Carrots are growing well too. And….drum roll…..I have a fairly big watermelon! We’ve never had luck with them so, I’m excited. Lol. It’s the largest one I’ve ever grown. (Eeekkkks! Happy dance!) Probably no big deal to most of you but, I’m counting my blessings. God is good & faithful. πŸ™πŸΌ

I better jump off here & get some rest. I hope you all have a blessed night.

God bless.

We Made It!

The first day of school started today. We all managed to be ready, grab lunches & backpacks, my coffee, & be out the door by 7. (Including first day of school pics of course.) We live about 30 minutes from the school through backroads. 40 minutes if you take the nice smoothe highway. I’m more of a backroad kind of girl. Lol. So, off we went around curves, over hills, & dodging wild life. 😜 Beautiful scenery & a peaceful morning with my boys.

I dropped one off at the high school. How is it possible that I have a freshman?! 😒 My other son, I walked into 1st grade. My sweet little baby is a first grader!!!! 😭 Both boys were prayed over & hugged & kissed before drop offs. I may have stolen a couple kisses more from my baby but, who’s counting?

Now, let me pause right here & go off the beaten path. I work at home on our farm & babysit. The daycare I helped run closed 3 years ago in September. After it closed, I started keeping 5 children in my home. Last year, after milking 2 cows & tending 10 bottle calves with 5 toddlers (Now that took talent! Lol) , I decided to only keep one little boy.

K was an awesome kid. He listened & obeyed the first time. (My own rarely do that! Ha!) He took 2-3 hours naps EVERY day. The kid was hilarious, & I could take him anywhere. Shopping, school plays, building fences….I did it all with my little red headed side kick. With that being said, K started preschool today! 😱 He’s 4 now. I got him at my daycare when he was 5 weeks old as a foster baby. He was so itty bitty tiny. I remember the other teachers would come to my room to see the “delicate creature” but, were all scared to hold him. Lol. They were afraid he’d break since he was so small. He had a different name then because, he was adopted by a great family. They are such a blessing. I’m going to miss my sweet little guy but, I know he’s making friends & absorbing everything he learns. He’s a smart cookie with a huge personality & vocabulary!

My house was so quiet today! I almost didn’t know what to do with myself. It was still definitely a Monday though. Let’s see, I managed to slam the top gate on the horse trailer into my head. Then, I went to the barn to feed my chickens & was stung twice by a wasp. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ After that, I decided I’d be safer inside. Lol. I cleaned & worked on laundry the rest of the day. Before I knew it, it was time to go get the boys at the bus stop. Both of my boys had a great first day! Praise the Lord for that! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Quick summary:

Cody’s favorite thing- Ag class

Cody’s worst thing- science teacher

Blake’s favorite thing- merry go round & two recesses!

Blake’s worst thing: his friend got sick & had to go home. (Poor kid! First day!)

I’ve got to get to sleep. Tomorrow will come too early, & hubby says my light is shining in his eyes. Lol.

God bless you all.

Rock Hunting

Hey, Guys! I hope you are all having a blessed week. We’ve been so busy getting ready for school. The boys start Monday morning. 😒 I’m very close to having everything ready. I still need to find shoes/boots for them. I know, I’ve got to get myself into gear! It’ll be here way too soon.

A nearby town (the closest one with a Walmart), has started painting & hiding rocks. Families then go out & hunt for them. When found, you can hide them for others in a new spot, or keep your favorites. I took my boys & the little guy I keep, yesterday. They loved it! (Well, my 14 year old may have rolled his eyes once & rushed us a bit. Haha!) It was good family fun though.

I love small towns. I would never make it in a big city. I love that one of the rocks we hid was found by a teacher my oldest had in middle school. (Did I mention he’s going to High School this year?!?! 😩) I also love that we saw a girl I went to school with, & her 3 boys, hunting on Main Street when we went hunting. Small towns are the best.

I hope all your babies are excited for school. Mine aren’t ready quite yet. Lol. I pray all of our children have a safe & happy year.

God bless your home.

Not ready.Β

Y’all school starts here the 14th! Three words describe my feelings: “I’m not ready!” I’m serious! Some mom’s on Facebook are cheering & happy.  Honestly, I love my kids school but, I prefer them home. Safe & happy at home without homework & stress! No peer pressure & drama here. πŸ˜‰

Ready or not though, it’s almost time to send my babies back to school. My oldest will be a freshman! 😩 My baby boy will be in 1st! 😒 I need to get busy shopping. I’ve bought only a few items. I’ve got so much to do before school begins! 😱 I am a procrastinator & may need your prayers. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ™πŸΌπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

God bless you all.

P.S. I’ll be praying for all teachers, students, & staff. May God keep His hand upon them all.
