We went to the farm yesterday to wean 4 calves. 75% of the time, we can call the cattle up with a feed sack. Yesterday was not in that percentage! 😜 Only my bottle calves that I’ve already weaned, a bull, & 1 cow fell for it. So….my guys got to play cowboy. My youngest insisted on riding his pony to help. He’s not quite got everything figured out yet because, he’s only 6. His pony is also smaller than our cows. Lol. But, he tagged along for the first 40 acres before joining his nanna in the truck. I snapped a few pics when I wasn’t helping. I hope y’all have a blessed Monday. ~A
My hubby & oldest are called to catch cattle for people, or to doctor them. Yesterday, they saddled up two horses, we loaded up 3 bay dogs & off we went.
They had tried to catch this cow on Monday but, it came a huge downpour. She got out in the woods, & they couldn’t see well enough to find her.
Round 2, our bay dogs. We brought 3: Yellow Dog (nope I didn’t name him. 🙄), Maisie (our blue-eyed beauty), & my dog, Jingle Bells (my youngest named her. Bet you can’t guess what month she was born! Lol).
While the guys (and dogs) caught the cow, little man & I made friends with the donkeys. The young one was yawning, not trying to eat us! 😂
In other news, my chicks are getting big & my garden is poducing pretty good. I’ve got to go help catch & wean some calves before Church.
I’m very blessed & happy to be a Child Of God. Take care.
Where does all the things piled into my 6 year old’s room come from?!?! I know I’ve avoided purging for way too long but, oh mylanta!!!!! I started working in his room around 9:30 this morning. I stopped to cook/eat lunch & again to feed & water animals outside. Otherwise, I’ve been up to my eyeballs in toys & donate piles. Ugghhh, Lord, help me. It’s scary in here! Lol. The sad news: I’m nowhere near finished.
Y’all I’ve seriously tried writing multiple times, & it’s just not worked out! We went out of town to work rodeos Friday & Saturday. I still feel like I’m playing catch up on sleep & chores!
We had a great time. My son & husband help friends who put on rodeos occasionally. I enjoy going when I can. Everything went well, & we had fun except for the “vintage” aka very outdated motel we slept in Friday night. That was intense. Lol. The water was “almost warm”, & the bed spreads were see through. We borrowed pillows & bedding from our friend’s camper & made do. We were so tired that we barely noticed the springs poking us through the mattress. 🙄😂 Seriously, we slept well. Exhaustion will do that to you. 😉
I have loved going out to my garden each day & finding veggies begging to be picked! 😍 I need to do some serious weeding soon though. It’s amazing how fast weeds pop up! 😩
I better get some sleep. 5:30 will come way too soon. Take care & count your blessings.

I woke up this morning to intense wind blowing the trees & my garden wildly. After it settled down, I went out to check the damage. Nothing was broken but, it took two hours to put it back to normal.
My tomato plants & cages were thrown over onto the hotwire fence. My poor zucchini & yellow squash were tossed over with their “skirts up”! I had an old baby bed Tied like a tent over my cucumbers. It crashed, & I had cucumbers going every which way. My potted plants/container garden was tumbled over on their sides. It was utter chaos! Lol.
I’m thankful for only craziness & no major damage found! It could’ve been way worse. God is good! I better get back outside. Lots of chores to do before a full weekend of rodeos & Father’s Day!
Have a blessed weekend! ~A
Hey, y’all! Hope you are having a great week. My silkies & Buff Orphingtons are getting so big!
Chickens are so messy! Lol. Every time I go outside, someone’s water is muddy or water jug/feeder is filthy. Those dust baths sure can make a mess. Latest chicken drama: See the dangling fence post? I’ve had it for 3 years in this big pen, for a roosting post. Not one injury….. until Sunday afternoon. One of my silkies hung her foot somehow on the string. I had to cut her out with scissors! I found her balancing on one foot, when I came in from church/hay field. She’s doing ok so far. Just a little swelling. She’s getting around well & eating good.
My garden is getting big finally! (Hopefully we won’t have anymore flooding!) I picked my first 3 squash today. Lettuce is growing faster than we can eat so, the chickens are loving that treat too. I went ahead & dug up a couple tator plants. They are kinda tiny but, will be delicious just the same. I’ll leave the others awhile. I can’t wait until I have ripe tomatoes & peppers! Won’t be much longer!
Y’all have a great evening! ~A

We’ve been in the hay this weekend. So thankful to have the first cutting finished! Of course, seems like something always breaks when in the hay field. This year, it was the baler. Hubby took it apart & finally got in running again. I was praying hard too. We had to finish our hay this weekend to start on someone else’s tomorrow. Praise the Lord, ours got completed on schedule. 🙌🏼
I enjoyed the family time, even though it was crazy busy. We ate lunch on the porch of our little cabin at the farm. (Both yesterday & today after Church.) Picnic style, enjoying the view. We are so blessed.
I got to work in the garden & mow the yard some too. I also taught this morning in Children’s Church. We had a great lesson on Prayer. I found an amazing object lesson on Pinterest using skittles. The kids enjoyed watching the colors change during the experiment.
