Memorial Day

Garden blessings & farm.

My bell peppers are growing nicely. I love checking on my garden each day. God’s handiwork & beauty amazes me.

Behind the strawberries, I have tomatoes & zucchini squash. Squash is definitely my favorite garden blessing. Last year, squash bugs completely murdered all my plants after only a handful of picking. So, this year….I planted a couple in tires, a couple in a pallet, & several in pots. Lol. I carefully positioned them all in different areas. Hopefully, the bugs will choose a plant or two & leave the others. Let us all pause a moment & beg God’s protection over our gardens. 😉🙏🏼😋

Here are a few pictures of our horses that I snapped this weekend.

Here a young horse is asking where the rest of his feed is. 🤷‍♀️

My 6 year old told my husband his pony needed her “toe nails” trimmed. Lol.

My oldest riding his horse bareback with a halter. 😍

I took this photo from my deck Saturday morning. It’s so peaceful drinking coffee & watching our animals grazing lazily.

I’ve got to get supper going & head out to Church soon. I hope you all have a blessed Memorial Day. We are so thankful to all those who’ve given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. May God bless those who are currently serving as well. 🇺🇸

My Youngest

My youngest child is a big handful of adorableness. He’s as different as day & night from my oldest son. This child has been jumping off of porches & corral panels  since he was two, giving me multiple heart failures. One of his favorite places to sit is in a tree stand out by the chickens & arena.

He’s got a unique personality & stubborn streak a mile long. (Stubbornness inherited from my husband. 😉) This morning I made him homemade muffins. He LOVES those nasty store bought ones. I had fresh blueberries & decided to try the healthier route. B took a bite & declared them terrible. (You must have tough skin & be laid back to talk to this kid. Lol) I encouraged him to try another bite with a blueberry in it. He took another bite & said it was pretty good but, raw. (Juicy lol) The next bite he ate & then, took another. I asked him if he liked it now. He replied: Yes but, only the blueberry & this part. (Pointing to the breaded part.) Me: ok just eat those parts then. 😂 This kid. Smh.

Yesterday, I walked into my bathroom to see the tin star had been removed, & a piece of toilet paper hanging on the wall. I don’t even blink anymore. This kid, y’all! 🤷‍♀️

Oh & did I mention that he also stuffed the clothes he’d been wearing into the little bathroom trashcan as well? Last night, we went to the movies. I had him get ready for bed, when we got home. I found the clothes & new wall decor after he went to bed. 🤦🏼‍♀️Most of the time, I don’t even ask why anymore. I did ask about the clothes this morning since, I’m writing this. He said he did it just because, “he wanted to”. There you have it folks, my youngest is my amazing little handful of all boy!

Horses

It’s that time of year, where we catch our horses for hubby & my oldest to use at rodeos. My husband is in from work for the summer, & will be working a few rodeos. They’ll start working the first weekend in June. So, we loaded up in two trucks, & headed to the farm.

When we drive around the farm in just our trucks, the horses will try to get in the windows to beg or be pet.

But, if they see or hear our stock trailer…..the race is ON!!!

They did a complete turn & headed away from us, before we ever got completely parked! Lol. They don’t care how much feed you have! If you have a trailer, they are out of there. Rascals! They like that knee high grass right now. They are all fat & sassy. 😉

But, in the end…we caught the four we needed & headed home. Hubby did a little foot work on them. He’s working cattle for someone in the morning. We got them all ready & in the arena, to be caught easily in the morning.  Hopefully, Everyone behaves & cooperates for a safe & easy day. (Easy? On a farm?!?! I know but, I can pray it so.)

Have a blessed weekend & Happy Memorial Day. Thankful for those who have given their lives for our freedom. 🇺🇸 ~A

Summer Time

Finally, the boys are out for the summer! We have no plans except hanging out around the house & farm. It’s definitely been a lot louder in my house! Quiet time? What’s that?! Lol. What are your plans this summer? The boys have mentioned fishing so, I plan to make time for that soon.

My youngest last night.

My garden is starting to grow! I’ve got a few tomatoes, green beans, & squash beginning to form. I can not wait to taste them!

Tiny tomato forming.

We have more baby chicks! They are all so sweet. All of my hens went broody at once this year. We have chicks running around of all sizes now. These are the youngest ones. 🐣

I better hop off of here. I need finish feeding, & start supper. Y’all have a blessed night.

Hubby Needs me.

My Saturday wasn’t exactly as I expected but, God kept us in His palm. I was cooking lunch, & hubby text me from work. (He’s working 2 hours away right now.) He’d not been feeling well & needed me to come down to take him to a clinic. Let me explain something, my husband doesn’t go to the dr unless he’s BAD.

I pulled chicken out of the oven, turned the stove off, threw on clothes (yes I was still in my pjs!), packed the boys a bag for my parents’ house, me a bag “just in case”. We headed to my parents. I tossed the boys out practically & hit the road.

The second thing you should understand, I HATE driving & only drive locally in our small town areas. UNLESS hubby or a family member needs  me. Let me be honest, I get very nervous about getting lost (I’m the most directionally challenged person you could ever meet.), & I’m not that great of a driver. Lol.

Anyways, I met hubby at his camper. I took him to the clinic to get him checked out. Turns out he has a bad case of bronchitis. Very bad. His oxygen level was so low, they thought the machine was messed up. They immediately did a breathing treatment & shot, within a few minutes of putting us in a room. Thank God, his oxygen level went up after that. We left the clinic with strong antibiotics, steroids, an inhaler, & cough meds.

I stayed at the camper with him last night. This morning, I followed him home. He’s laid off until Tuesday, dr’s orders. I love having him close by. So thankful he’s doing well, & I get some extra time with him.

I’m counting my blessings & feeling very thankful. God is our Healer & Provider. 🙌🏼

School is out!!

I’m so thankful school has came to an end here. My oldest finished his last day of Middle School today at 10:45. My youngest graduated on Monday from Kindergarten. Even though my boys are rambunctious & loud, I love knowing they are close by & safe. Well, at least as safe as you can be with rowdy boys on a farm!

I drive my boys to a school about 30 minutes away so, it’ll also be easier on our bank account! Lol. Our small town school closed down when my oldest finished Kindergarten. We love our “new” school though. It’s where I graduated from. I know the teachers, principals, & the superintendent!

It’ll be nice to let the boys sleep in & have less chaos in our schedule. Notice I said “less chaos in our schedule”? Obviously, boys & farms are never boring! Lol.

I hope you all have a great weekend!
